blockbuster trade

Breaking news! According to The Score, the Vancouver Canucks have traded hulking winger Todd Bertuzzi, along with the MVP of the Canucks in Alex Auld and one of our better and more consistent D-men Bryan Allen for one of the best goalies in the league in Roberto Luongo, D-man Lukas Krajicek (has anyone in blogland even heard of this guy?!) and a 6th round pick in the NHL Draft. This feels like 1999 all over again when the Canucks stole the show at the draft by trading Bryan McCabe for the right to draft the Sedins. A couple of questions for all you bloggers, who won this deal? and What happens to the $3 million dollar back-up in Dan Cloutier. On a side note, what's going to happen with Chris Pronger, rumoured to want out of Edmonton?

I think it's a good move by the Canucks to move Bertuzzi. He's a cancer for the team, both from the standpoint of media attention and in the dressing room.

Auld will probably develop in to a lower level starter, or more likely a back-up goalie at best.

Bryan Allen has never lived up to his potential.

And in return you get a superstar goalie in the making, something the Canucks have never had. That could be a winning trade.

That sums it up from my point of view, but we'll have to see!
