It's been 62 years since WWII ended, and I believe 88 or 89 years since WWI ended. I would like to take a moment to thank all those soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice of their lives to allow us to live freely. As for war mongers like George Bush and Stephen Harper, shame on you. No country should have to live in fear of being attacked., especially after the hard lessons of Wars past. So take the time today to celebrate the memories of those brave soldiers and remember what they went through decades before today.

Canucks jinxed?

My beloved Vancouver Canucks have struggled badly out of the gate, winning just one home game in October. Their defensive core has been dessimated by poor play and injury. In fact heading into Saturday's tilt against the Colorado Avalanche, they'll be minus Kevin Bieksa (out with a lacerated calf for 6-8 weeks), Sami Salo (out with a broken nose for who knows how long) and Lukas Krajicek (out with a broken foot for the next month). Heading into the season, the questin marks rested upon who was going to score besides the Sedin twins, who are struggling to cope with defenses that have finally figured out how to defend their cycling game. However, that has not been the only problem this season. So far, the Canucks have been taking WAY too many penalties and that is costing them. As well, the team has only really played one complete sixty minute contest. The Canucks must learn to get their heads in the game at the opening face-off and keep it there until the final buzzer sounds. World-class goalie Roberto Luongo hasn't exactly been his stellar self in October, winning just four of 12 starts, whether due to injury or to some fine tuning needed technologically.
